Under
the shadow of its old tower, the Saint
Germain des Près square keeps
its charm and its spirit.
The square has been renewed in 1864 in occasion
of the opening of the boulevard Saint
Germain and the rue de Rennes
on the churchyard and a muddle of little
streets.
The famous “café des deux
Magots” owns its name to a shop
of curiosities that disappeared in the end
of the last century.
The terrace of this café
has witnessed the speeches of famous poets
and literary men like Jean Paul Sartre
and Simone de Beauvoir.
