A
fountain overtopped by a victory offers
its laurels, two similar theatres, ample
and harmonious proportions contribute to
create the charm of this square.
A terrible jail, called the Grand Chatelet,
occupied once the square.
The Saint Jacques tower is the only remaining
trace of the church that rose on that place.
In the interior of the “theatre
de la Ville” a commemorative
plaque remember the poet Gérard de
Nerval who hanged himself on this square.
